Beginning in 2022, the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project is an exciting venture aimed at bringing the glory of J.S. Bach\u2019s 200 + cantatas to Glasgow.   Under the Musical Direction of Michael Bawtree<\/a><\/strong> and Frikki Walker<\/strong><\/a>, the project is bringing together some of the best players and singers from Glasgow and beyond to perform as many of Bach\u2019s cantatas as possible over the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are using as many churches around Glasgow as we can, including St Bride’s Church Hyndland, St Margaret’s Church Newlands, Govan and Linthouse Church and St Mungo’s Cathedral. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor John Butt<\/a> OBE<\/strong> is our Patron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are involving both amateur and professional musicians in performances, but everyone involved in the project will give their time free of charge.  A key objective of the project is to raise funds for Glasgow charities involved in alleviating poverty.  We are currently raising funds for the Glasgow City Mission<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
