Beginning in 2022, the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project is an exciting new venture aimed at bringing the glory of J.S. Bach’s 200 + cantatas to Glasgow.   Under the Musical Direction of Michael Bawtree and Frikki Walker, the project will bring together some of the best players and singers in Glasgow to perform as many of Bach’s cantatas as possible over the coming years. St Bride’s Church Hyndland and St Margaret’s Church Newlands have kindly agreed to host us.

Professor John Butt OBE is our Patron.

We are involving both amateur and professional musicians in performances, but everyone involved in the project will give their time free of charge.  A key objective of the project will be to raise funds for Glasgow charities involved in alleviating poverty.  In this first year we will be raising funds for the Glasgow City Mission.

Geraldine Mynors is leading the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project and you can contact her at glasgowbach@outlook.com. Musicians interested in being part of the project can complete the form HERE. (We currently have plenty of sops and altos so the only gaps would be for soloists / people with a lot of relevant experience).
